OKLAHOMA
Little Sahara State Park - (580) 824-1471
NOTES: Northwest of Oklahoma City and south of Waynoka, the 1500 acre Little Sahara State Park has amazing sand dunes for ATV
riding. This is the largest dune riding area in the state. To the west and northwest are the largest dunes, offering fantastic views,
especially of sunsets with the Glass Mountains in the distance. In the middle there are cottonwood trees, yucca plants and stands of tall
grass that form trails. To reach the state park from Waynoka, head south on US281 for 4 miles. Note: the City of Waynoka permits
riding ATVs from the dunes into the town on designated routes (pickup a map from the city first). Little Sahara safety rules require all
vehicles have a whip that extends 10 feet from the ground with an orange or red flag that is a minimum 6x10 inches.
Registration of OHVs (ATVs) is not required in Oklahoma, and there is no minimum age for riding such. Muffler and spark arrestors
are required on State and Federal land and the OHV must be equipped with headlights for night riding. On-road use is prohibited with
certain exceptions, notably riding on unpaved National Forest system roads.
